The Bangalore Palace was built by Rev. J. Garrett, the first Principal of the Central High School in Bangalore (now known as Central College). The construction of the palace was started in 1862 and completed in 1944. It was bought by the then Maharaja of Mysore Chamarajendra Wadiyar X in 1884. Now the palace is owned by the Mysore royal family which has recently undergone a renovation. This historical and fun place in Bangalore in definitely a must visit. 

Lalbagh Botanical Garden:

One among the most beautiful and fun places in Bangalore, The Lalbagh Botanical Garden was originally commissioned by Hyder Ali, the ruler of Mysore, and later finished by his son Tipu Sultan. It has a famous glass house which hosts an annual flower show. Lalbagh houses India’s largest collection of tropical plants. It has a lake and is one of the main tourist attractions in Bangalore.

Situated on the northeastern side of the city, near MG road, the Ulsoor Lake covers an area of approximately 1.5 square kilometers and is one of the oldest lakes in Bangalore. It was built by Kempe Gowda II in the later part of the sixteenth century. The lake has boating facilities, a small park and clusters of beautiful islands in the middle.

With a splendid ambience, Cubbon Park is one of the most famous fun places in Bangalore that has a rich recorded history of abundant flora and fauna plantations coupled with many impressive buildings. Tipu Sultan’s Palace or the Bangalore Fort (earlier a mud fort) was built by Kempe Gowda I, a vassal of the Vijaynagar Empire and the founder of Bangalore. Haider Ali in 1761 replaced the mud fort with a stone fort. The army of the British East India Company captured the fort in the siege of Bangalore during the third Mysore War. At the time the fort was a stronghold for Tipu Sultan. The old fort area includes Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace, and his armoury.

Wonderla Amusement Park is one of the most fun places in Bangalore and is said to be the largest of its kind in India. Spread over 82 acres, Wonderla has 56 thrill-packed rides for people of all ages. There are kids’ rides, water rides, dry rides and high thrill rides.

Sankey Tank is a man made lake covering an area of about 37.1 acres. It was constructed by Col. Richard Hieram Sankey of the Madras Sappers Regiment in 1882 to meet the water supply demands of Bangalore. The tank was also known as Gandhadhakotikere, as the Government Sandalwood Depot used to be located near the lake.
