The SBI Kidovators 2015 was concluded at the Grand Finale in Bhubaneshwar (Odisha) on 10th January, 2016. The competition, which saw an overall participation of 31,000 students from 156 schools across 14 states, ended with K D Ambani Vidyamandir (Jamnagar) as the Best School Award winner followed by SBOA School & Junior College (Chennai) as the Best School Award runner-up. The two schools were awarded Rs 1,00,000 & Rs 50,000 in cash prize respectively along with trophies.
The Most Enterprising School Award was presented to DAV Chandrashekharpur (Bhubaneshwar), BGS National Public School (Bangalore) and Global Indian International School (Bangalore) with each school receiving Rs 35,000 in cash prize along with trophies.
The Grand Finale of Kidovators involved 150 students from the top 15 schools who competed in 3 levels over two days (9th & 10th January) following which the Champion Kidovator for each grade from Grades 3 – 8 were declared. The students first competed in a team task followed by two individual tasks. In the team task, students were given case studies on various problems such as ‘Widening Economic Gap between Rich & Poor in India (Class 3)’, Rise of ISIS: Is USA accountable? (Class 7)’ and so on. They had to come up with a written document mentioning all the improvement and reforms they want in these problems. Post this, there was a Round Table Conference on national problems such as ‘Checking Urban Sprawl (Class 5)’, ‘Dowry Menace (Class 6)’ and ‘Domestic Violence (Class 7)’ among other topics. The Top 10 in each grade moved to the second individual task which was a Round Table Conference on global problems such as ‘ISIL vs Syria (Class 6)’ and ‘Israel – Palestine Peace Talks (Class 8)’ among others.
These students had already competed and cleared Round 1 of the competition which was a written test conducted in the school in the months of August & September 2015 and Round 2 where 600 students from across India were grilled at a telephonic interview by a Kidovators mentor.
The Award Ceremony was conducted post the completion of all the rounds. Dr. Fr. Paul Fernandes S J (Director – XIM Bhubaneshwar & Vice Chancellor – Xavier University Bhubaneshwar) was the Chief Guest with Mr. P K Jena (Regional Director, RBI) & Mr. B V G Reddy (Chief General Manager, SBI Odisha) as Guests of Honour. Mr P K Sinha (General Manager, SBI Odisha), Mr Ananth Choudhary (General Manager, SBI Odisha), Mr. Priyadeep Sinha (CEO, GyanLab), Ms. Sonali Gupta (Convener, SBI Kidovators) and other officials from SBI, SBI Life Insurance & GyanLab were also present during the ceremony.
All 150 students who were Finalists were given awards with the Champion Kidovator in each class winning prizes worth Rs 100,000 each followed by AIR 2 winning prizes worth Rs 50,000 & AIR 3 winning prizes worth Rs 25,000.
During the Grand Finale, there were also multiple open discussions among students, teachers & parents regarding Freedom to be given to School Students, The Importance of Sports in a Child’s Life & Career Choices beyond Engineering & Medical. There was also a session on Sand Animation where Mr. Subala Maharana – well known Sand Artist – showcased some beautiful sand animations to the amazement of the entire audience.
This was the 3rd Edition of SBI Kidovator that has been conceptualized by GyanLab with State Bank of India (Title Sponsor), National Payments Corporation of India (Co-title Sponsor), SBI Life Insurance (Exclusive Event Partner), Manipal Global (Knowledge Partner), RuPay, IMPS, NACH (Sponsors) as the sponsors & partners for the entire competion exxtending valuable support and help in making it a grand success.
